What happens in laughtercise
You do not need any special equipment for laughter, loose comfortable clothing is recommended. Many of the exercises can be performed standing or sitting down to suit all fitness levels.
There are 4 elements to a laughtercise session.
Firstly we start with a gentle activation to music to warm up our muscles.
Then we work through a variety of simple laughter exercises that promote our sense of playfulness, using make believe, eye contact and laughter. These are punctuated with breathing exercises. Working in a group, the fake laughter quickly becomes spontaneous genuine laughter.
The laughter exercises are preparation for the Laughter meditation which is a deeper experience of unconditional natural laughter and is very cathartic.
Finally, a guided relaxation brings together the benefits of laughter, ready to return to everyday life feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and revitalised.
